Economic Development Advisory Committee

The Economic Development Advisory Committee (EDAC) was re-established in 2011 to act as a volunteer advisory committee to Council making recommendations on matters relating to the economic well being of the Town of Innisfil.  This community-based advisory committee is part of the ongoing community engagement process that Council modeled through the Inspiring Innisfil 2020 initiative.

The EDAC is comprised of community members representing various sectors of the economy including: agriculture/agri-foods; arts/culture/heritage; retail; manufacturing/industrial; real estate/development; tourism/gaming/recreation; health/educational; youth and business associations. 

Innisfil Economic Development Advisory Committee

This committee is an Advisory Committee to Council that make recommendations on matters relating to the economic wellbeing of the Town of Innisfil.

What they do:

  • Assist, in an advisory capacity, Council and Staff on matters relating to economic development;
  • Review and / or participate in the development of Town policies, programs and initiatives relating to Economic Development to ensure a prosperous business climate in the Town of Innisfil and support the overall goals and objectives of the Inspiring Innisfil 2020 strategic plan;
  • To facilitate the development of new and existing enterprises through support and provision of opportunities for economic development growth designed to enhance the quality of life and prosperity in our community;
  • Assist Town Staff with the development of a marketing strategy related to the Town of Innisfil with the goals of ensuring it is current, relevant and accurately portrays the Town as a viable location for new business opportunities;
  • Develop and make a sustainable Business Ambassador Program that utilizes the members of the Committee as emissaries, promoting the positive attributes of the Town of Innisfil to existing and prospective businesses;
  • Work in partnership with Staff and other partners, such as the South Simcoe Economic Alliance and the Greater Innisfil Chamber of Commerce, to actively assist in fostering and promoting a positive community image, viable community central areas and a healthy business environment for existing and prospective businesses;  
  • Provide input and comment on the annual economic development operating budget submissions and work plans prepared by Staff; and
  • To undertake other assignments as may be requested, as it relates to the overall purpose of the committee.
